I have a 2004 lexus es330. I have been wondering about some key questions due to curiosity. I hope these questions can be answered.
- I’ve heard that there can only be 5 active keys. Does that apply to only master keys or all keys (including valet and wallet key)
- Assuming that i add some more keys, and my valet key wouldn’t work anymore(due to the 5 keys limit). If i’m happen to program the valet key again, would it count as a master key after I program it, or is it still a valet key?
- Same scenario as number 2, will the wallet key eventually stop working if i keep adding keys?

A maximum of 5 master key codes and 3 sub−key codes can be registered.
--- Anything that starts the car counts as a key that is programmed.
--- You cant program a Valet key as a Master.
Valet key will always be a Valet key.
--- A programmed key will always stay programmed and will not be erased.
(unless you reset the key code which wipes out all keys except for the MASTER key thats in the ignition at the time.)
You cant add anymore keys if you reached the limit.
*Note -- You can only program keys with a MASTER key. <-- so dont lose it. lol

I hope im right on this. LOL. j/k

How to you do the reset that wipe out all the active keys? AND does it affect the valet key and the wallet key?

Maybe someone can chime in that has actually done this.
My understanding is once you Max out your programmed keys, it wont allow you to program anymore.
Wiping out means just that.
