MCV20,

I found online where they will sell the 1999 Solara strut bar for $68 + shipping. I have a 98 es300, is the 99 solara part ok? or are all the solara 99-2001 the same?

Also, when you bolt back on, do you know what torque setting we should use?

Thanks

I looked under my car and saw that there is already a rear sway bar installed from the factory. Any comments on this?

they stock sways is not "Strength" enough...since the ES is set for comfort setting(more body roll) rather than handling setting(less body roll)...
if u want better handling.. get a "thinker" rear sways...but u will also recieve a more harsh ride..

ok, so I was planning on getting the TRD Rear sway bar. I noticed that you have some dislike in the trd strut tower bar and was wondering why? TRD parts are designed for better performance than the stock toyota parts, so why is a regular solara strut tower bar better than a TRD one that was designed for racing. Please explain, and I dont want to hear that it is because the salesman that sold me my tower bar told me it was better.

no dont get me wrong here... i m not dislike the TRD strut bar.. since it give me some cleareance issue..and such.. so that i choose the stock strut bar instead of the TRD one..

also i m not a expert on it.. but that is a TOYOTA mech told me that one piece strut bar will give u a more solid/strength.. and the reason TRD release the strut bar is due to the S/C clearance issue on Stock strut bar on solara....

actually i have try both TRD(friend's camry) and stock strut bar (mine) u wouldnt feel the diff on both....
but if w/o one u will feel the diff..

MCV,

was looking at the pics again. With the Solara struts, everything bolts down flush? I noticed that on each side, one of the bolts go over the silver colored spacer over two of the bolts. The other bolt just bolts directly over the car.

Thanks

I have 3.2cm above the engine .. but I can't close my hood... all I can do it's to PUT down the hood and not CLOSE it.. as the pic you can see it's kind high to close the hood... how did you do that...?????
