I ended up buying a stock solara strut bar, and recieved it a few days ago. All it took for my car was a little forece to close the hood.

I just installed the OEM Solara bar on my 01 ES300 without issue. The bar does push up on the underhood lining, but my friend and I were unable to notice any significant issues with the hood. The hood still closes relatively easily.

Yeah, it's the same with my 98. It doesn't push the hood up enough to really notice. Although if i run my hand along the crack of the fender and the hood there is a very slight height difference of maybe a few millimeters.

97-01 is all that I'm positive of at this point. The 96 and earlier were different, but that doesn't mean you can't make it fit. If there's anyone in the OC area with the earlier model I might be able to arrange a test-fit.
