Default 2005 ES330 stuck rear caliper slide pins...

Is it worth trying to salvage these or am I better off just getting new calipers? If it's a pain in the *** from a repair standpoint I'll just get new calipers. Car has 258K and original calipers.

Problem is now it caused uneven wear eventually and now I'm getting dragging/grinding on one side... so even though the car is driveable, I have sidelined it because of the horrible grinding noises during braking. Obviously I am going to do the rotors and pads, too...

If it was my car I'd buy a set of Centric calipers instead of messing around with 250,000 mile parts. I do see Powerstop coated calipers on Rockauto for a good price they look tempting. Akebono ACT are my go to pads.

I see centric calipers on carid.com for like 60something ea plus a core, even with the core (which is refundable obviously) it's still cheaper than one OEM caliper... is carid.com decent to order from?

Seeing I'm in Canada so never used them but I'm sure they are fine. Centric remans are not painted so keep that in mind. Better to buy calipers locally if possible.

If it's just the pins that are stuck, you can pull them, clean out the cavities and clean the pins, and reinstall them with proper grease (like Sil-Glyde).

Obviously, you'd be better off with NEW calipers, but it's basically free to fix the pins. Make sure the hats are intact and if not, renew them.

Clean and re-pack the pins with sil-glyde at each brake service and this won't happen again.

Went all OEM but was worth it. Passenger side might have been saved but not worth it. Dust shields rotted off so just removed them. Car drives like new!
