Default Wood Trim

I'm interested in real wood pieces for my 94 ES. I'm only interested in the door switch panel pieces. I don't want to over do it. I've done a little research and there is no clear consensus among CL members. I believe that the items on Ebay are not real wood and most likely not worth the time or money. Has anyone had any success ? I figured I'd ask the ES300 owners. I believe that this option was only available on the 1996 Coach edition.

Thanks.

I'm with you, Bluesman. I've wanted to do this mod for awhile now, and after having an RX loaner a couple of days ago with the wood plates around the window switches, I want them in my 96 ES. I did a search for the thread you posted about the wood trim for your door panels, and went to their site. Maderaconcepts.com lists the window trim plates at $315 for the set. I had a quote of $94 from aaaexoticwood.com, which I believe was for synthetic. They now offer real wood, not sure of price or match with the OEM wood.

bluesman,

Just to give you an idea of what a wood door trim piece looks like on a 1st-gen ES (I know squarehat can vouch for this), here's a snapshot of one on my '96 ES Coach Edition (no longer with me , click on sig link for detail )

That is one sweet trim piece, perfect match, and even has the silk screened lettering. That's exactly what I want my door panel to look like. Maybe one of the dealerships that support CL could offer us up a quote (Steve Ganz comes to mind).

I am happy with the door panels that I received from Madera Concept. It's real wood and the match is fairly close. It doesn't have the glossy finish which tends to give a plastic appearance. I have to note that it helps that the current peices are on the door and the center console. You don't see the separate pieces side by side. However, as you disovered, $315 for the switch panel pieces is a little steep. I realize that it probably makes sense to purchase all of the door pieces from the same vendor. This is probably the best chance to have pieces that closely match. I'm was just hoping that someone had other suggestions.

BTW, that pic is exactly what I want. It looks nice.

I've e-mailed five different vendors regarding the door peices three days ago and not one has responded to me. Amazing.

I hear you man... I don't trust emailing to any parts vendor since they're not particularly responsive. I'd rather call them up if you can get a hold of their phone number. Definitely a better way to get in touch with the people.

I've purchased kits off ebay and for $100 you can't beat the price. I mean come on $100

I've had wood kits in 3 of my Lexi and I noticed some sellers use a simulated wood (painted) and some appear to use a very thin piece of real wood with tons of polyurethane satisfies me
