Recently I got my timing belt and water pump replaced and it costed me quite a lot. Leaving my mechanics place I noticed the engine was idling so I frustratingly replaced the spark plugs and it fixed nothing so I replaced the ignition coil in the cylinder that was misfiring. It worked just fine for about 5 minutes then the check engine light came back on and it would do this thing where it would shift to second then it almost seemed like it would quit putting out as much power as it should have been, like it was in limp mode. My fuel economy was twice as good for awhile and I couldn’t feel my engine one but when idling. Now the engine is shaking when I’m stopped. I’m so frustrated! I’m sure i didn’t miss anything during the replacements because every bolt I removed the first time came out the second time. Could it be a gasket leak? Or VVT? When I checked the codes at autozone nothing came up so I thought I had to reset my codes but I can’t do that apparently without a tool to pull the certain fuse that does it (according to my mechanic). I’m going to my mechanic tonight but I don’t want to have to spend any more money than I have to! Any ideas what to do?

My 2000 es 300 had a similar problem when I came to a stop anywhere it would shake and want to lose power and come to find out one the engine was getting to much air because two of my hoses were worn out and tore by the air filter housing in between the manifold , replace them and runs like new haven’t had a problem since

It was an easy fix. Just check for any of the hoses that go from the air filter housing to the intake manifold its very simple also never had that problem again thanfully
