2003 Lexus ES300
I recently removed the engine and transmission from my 2003 Lexus ES300. I had a lot of trouble removing the transmission from the engine. On older GM cars that were rear wheel drive you were able to remove the thin metal shield underneath the engine and transmission. This enabled you to remove the bolts that held the flywheel to the torque converter. I could find no access from the engine to the torque converter to be able to do the same thing on my Lexus. Does anyone out there know how to separate the two, the engine and the transmission, by removing the bolts that hold them together?

You don't have an access cover like this?

Keep the torque converter in the transmission don't remove it. When separating the tranny/engine keep pushing the converter inward then when you have enough room put something across the bellhousing to keep the converter in place. This will save you a headache getting the converter meshed and in all the way doing this is tricky.
