Hi guys,
I just purchased a 2004 ES330 with 198K on it. The guy I bought the car is the third owner, had it for 5 years and didn't replace the timing belt and water pump. I got the car fax report and it seems no replacement of timing belt. Now I want to ask if I should replace it immediately although there is no noise or any other symptoms. It is possible the timing belt was replaced previously but not documented right? Also I want to ask if a mechanic can understand if the original timing belt replaced or not.
Thank you.

Register at lexus.com and see if any records are available. If the belt is original it could go at any time, it is not always obvious by inspecting the belt if it has been replaced or not.

If it were me, I would change the timing belt service. People here can say don't change it, its not time yet, it will last. But there not the ones who will fork over the bill if something happens. So get the timing belt service done and have that peace of mind.
