Hey guys, I'm new in this forum.
I recently bought a 2002 ES300 with 115K miles and the previous owners have changed the oil regularly.
I only drive 2 miles a day as I stay close to work, but i usually drive around 50-100 miles on the weekends (on the highway) to visit friends and family.

I recently changed my oil and used Mobil1 Full Synthetic High Mileage 5W-30 and a Toyota Filter, and also changed the PCV valve. The old valve was still in a very good condition when I examined it.

Now my question is, how often should I change my oil if I'll be averaging just around 5000 miles a year?
I was thinking once every 6 months but please let me know what you guys think...

There is no right answer. Manual states, 5k miles normal driving conditions and 3k severe driving conditions. If you don't hit 5k miles then once a year. As the car takes conventional and not synthetic, you are save to do every 5k or once a year with Synthetic. But its all your call, check level, color, smell and go from there.

Since you do short trips, stay with synthetic and 5k/1 year interval should be fine. I would have used HM only if there are any leaks and don't plan to fix. Now that u used it, continue with the same.
