Default 2000 ES300 Fender Liner Removal

Hello all,

I am trying to replace the driver side wheel well fender liner. I am able to locate all the screw locations but the clips that attach the liner to the edge of the fender wheel opening are frustrating to get off. The plastic screw accepters attach into the fender lip flange. Any suggestions on how to remove those or are they one-time use (for installing)?

Plastic pieces are fitted into slot holes on the fender liner where the red arch is. the 4 screws from the panel protector go through those. The plastic pieces seem to be very tough and when you pull on the liner, the holes stretch.
