I just purchased a used (121,000 miles) ES300 from a friend after driving it four about four weeks. During that time I used the valet key and didn't have the remotes which were at her home about 6 miles away during the four-week period. After I decided to buy it she gave me the fobs and said they had worked fine. They don't work at all. They have new CR2016 batteries that "produce a strong signal" according to my local Toyota dealer that tried to reprogram them but was unsucessful. I just tried the "Remote Keyless Entry Programming Procedure (Customer Programming Method)" posted here a few years ago. Any other ideas would be appreciated.
