BTW check transmission fluid color, make sure its still pink. If they say its life time fluid call BS and will need a change if its anything other than pink. Filter too.
Sounds like you were smarter with yours lol. Here's some info on the engine. http://www.motorreviewer.com/engine.php?engine_id=150p://www.motorreviewer.com/engine.php?engine_id=150

I'll ask her mechanic if he checked it, thanks for the advice

Once a year add some marvel mystery oil to a full tank of gas and put some in during a oil change, follow the instructions on the label. I’ve bern doing this for 20+ years and never had a problem but, I always take care of my cars with preventative maintenance vs reactionary maintenance. It works...

That site is not accurate in this case, the 3MZ is not sludge prone and does not tend to burn oil at high mileage unless severely neglected. They also say the engine is prone to overheating, not true either that never happens unless the cooling system has a leak or the coolant was never changed.

I would get it independently inspected but I would have picked it up for 7K for sure. Rotors are cheap and easy to replace. I just paid $7k for 2005 es330 with 164K on it. It had one owner, some microchip packaging engineers. The guy must have been pretty **** because the car was extremely well-taken care of, looks almost showroom new inside and out, the leather looks brand new, not a tear or stain anywhere inside. The paint is pristine, I think it must have been garage kept. It drives like a dream with not a single issue, no joke, not even a little one, other than the timing belt due for a change in a couple thousand more miles. I did not want to pay that much for a car with that many miles but was in a pinch and now do not have any regrets. I also take very good care of my cars and I hope to get well over 300K on this Lexus. The one you described sounded like a great deal. By the way, I am averaging 29.4 miles per gallon. 90% hwy driving and 10% town. Though I do drive like an old lady on the road 58 to 60 mph (specifically for fuel economy) I use it for my daily 85mile round trip commute to the truck yard where I drive another 500miles a day in a rig. Hell, just on the gas savings from my last vehicle, a Durango that got 18miles per gallon, this car will pay for itself after not too long.

Did you buy it or are you now kicking yourself for passing it up?

7k is a little steep, but so is everything else. Try and bargain down to 6000 and you got a deal.
