Default What is this part?

I'm changing my rear shocks and struts and I came across this thing. I have no idea what it is or does and it doesn't seem to go anywhere. It's held out of the way with hose clamps, the actual mount is rusted through and it was held on with a piece of fabric knotted around it. I have it held on with a couple of hose clamps and it's secure enough but still...

This is the reverse angle to the first shot.

This shows the electrical line disappearing into the depths. Does it go to that big black box? Who knows. Is this an unused set of parts from the fancy suspension version of the car?

I can't even seem to spot it on a spec sheet. Does anyone have a Haynes or something that might identify it?

Does your car have auto leveling headlights? Maybe that's part of the sensor that rusted and broke off.

Well, it's at the back but I guess it could be that, although I imagine those sensors would be in the front. The headlight error code is not on either.

The auto level sensor is at the back.

You're correct

What i suggest is you can go ahead and change the headlight level located in the back of the main headlamp housing. the pic had 2 nuts ( not sure what size) .One for high and one for low beam . However in my case i only have one nut( weird).
Any case go ahead and adjust either clockwise or counter-clockwise

Also i suggest you make sure have battery booster incase the battery dies because you will have turn the headlight on. Or engine running should be fine.

I my case i have removed that rod you see or the strut that tells the sensor the height of the car. Because mine was making noise and was well broken. the dealer doesnt just has that part instead you will have buy the entire sensor too..which is super$$$. so right now i dont have that rod but my lights still work and no error on the dash panel

Thanks for the tip.

I'll have to save up for that but it'll be good to have a place where I can get the part more affordably.
