My front bumper was smashed in on the driver side. Bumper, front light cover broken. This was an Amazon delivery truck, backed into my parked car. Their insurance company had me take special pictures then sent sent me $1,365.65 calling it an 'initial payment'. My concern is how much will the insurance company actually payout. And how hard is it going to be for a repair shop to find a bumper?
How should I handle this? I talked to one shop (highly rated), he said come get estimate, told him insurance took pics sent me money considered 'initial payment'. Gave me song and dance, he didn't want to go any further. I also have about five pages of details as to what should be used, etc., etc. What's my best tactic? I want this replaced. I even thought I should start looking for a bumper - needle in a haystack?
I am almost sure they wrote the estimate with aftermarket parts . Those are easy to get and reasonably priced .
If the Body shop finds more damage behind the bumper cover and headlamp they will get with Insurance company
and work out the details . This is not something to worry about the Insurance will pay what is needed to put your car back together.
If the shop doesn't want to work off the Ins. estimate find another shop . This is an easy repair that any decent
shop can handle. Good luck
Yes you most likely got quoted for Aftermarket parts. Light about $120-$200 and bumper $60-120 and my bumper repaint was quoted $670 by a shop before. OEM Headlight itself worth $450+. Btw change both headlights, having one yellow and one clear will look so weird.
