"Knock Sensors allow for cheap gas by advancing the ignition to it’s maximum so it can be used".
Agree a knock sensor will alter ignition timing. However, it will retard the ignition timing to protect the engine from damaging pre-ignition when a low octane fuel is used.

Which further makes the case for using Lexus gas recommendations.
