Hi I have a 2003 lexus es 300. The check engine light has started blinking also engine is giving a rough idle. It feels like its jerking into gear instead of shifting smoothly. What could be the cause?

Hey,

I have had the same problem in my 2000 es 300. Mine was caused by a misfire in three cylinders, and a random misfire. I fixed it by first having it by replacing MAF sensor, the dead coil pack, and all six spark plugs.

Edit - I should also add that I took my car to my local autozone and had them scan for codes. This was before I purchased any parts. As Arenii said, you shouldn't throw parts at a problem this complicated before knowing the codes.

For now it is just a shot in the dark.. Can you visit a local car shop and get the computer scanned? They usually do it for free.
