Default Removing the intake emissions...thing?

On the '04, there is an emissions device aft of the air filter, its purpose to absorb errant unburned fumes while the engine is off, then burn away when it is running (analogous to how the fuel carbon canister works). Has anyone removed this? It's formed into the housing, so it can't be separated (would have to be hacked out). Yes, it's an old car, not a race car...but look at how restricted it seems...there has got to be at least a tiny bit of HP to be gained!

Hello,

Like, do you really see a point in messing with that? Going through all those troubles of removing it, only to then deal with the ECU, ever so grinding Check Engine light, and emission regulations in your region. That all just for some hypothetical 2-3 extra hp that you will never feel under regular conditions.. Are you really sure that you want to proceed?

The are a bunch of less destructive ways of increasing performance on those cars, search for something like Phoenix's Free Mod Series.

Hope this helps and bet of luck!

At that point why not put a cold air intake on it and remove the whole airbox?
