1996 ES300 Sensor on Thermostat housing
Hello. I am having trouble identifying the name and part number of the sensor on the thermostat housing of my 1996 Lexus ES300. I changed the coolant temp sensor (ECT sensor) that is located on the passenger side of the engine near the valve where you add coolant, but cannot figure out what the sensor is that is on the thermostat housing. The tread for that sensor is larger in size than the one that I replaced. The only identifying number I see on it is simply "08." Thank you in advance.

Hello,
You can find all the part numbers on this website.
It seems like a Part Number for the sensor that you need is 89428-41010. Looking at the price, I think you would be better off getting it off of junkyard..
Hope this helps and best of luck!

The sensor by the coolant fill is the Engine Coolant temp for the combo meter gauge. -- single wire
83420-20040
This part # 89428-41010. is for an electronic fan switch usually mounted on the radiator which this (OP) vehicle doesnt have.
Your fans are controlled via control fan ECU that uses power steering fluid to run the Engine cooling fan.
Hope this helps.

Thank you
Thank you all for you swift support. Your knowledge is extremely helpful. This has been bugging me for nearly a week and you all were able to give me answers immediately after I posted. Autopart stores had no idea what I was talking about and kept trying to sell me the other sensor that I already replaced.
