Default 02 Es300 missing 14mm firewall intake bracket bolt...

So I'm getting ready to take off the intake manifold on my 02 es300 and I noticed I'm missing the the 14mm bolt that goes to the bracket by the firewall.. I can feel where it's supposed to be, I'm guessing the guy who did my rear valve cover never reinstalled it. Would this bolt missing cause my any issues? Make the intake susceptible to vacuum leaks? Sorry if this dumb, I'm just confused that's it's missing.

Hello,

It is a common practice on those cars to not reinstall that bolt, since it is really difficult to align, but I would still suggest you to reinstall it.
With that said, there is a solution - not sure, but I think it uses M8 thread, so just find a good quality M8 stud or a bolt without a head, put some thread locker on one end and screw it in instead of the bolt. Now you can use a 14mm nut instead of the bolt, which is much easier to align and tighten.

Hope this helps and best of luck!

Thanks, the stud and nut is a good idea. Does this bracket actually help keep the intake from moving?

Under normal circumstances, I doubt that it will move far enough without that bracket to cause you any real troubles. It is probably there for safety reasons or something like that.. Nevertheless, I would still suggest you to make it right, even if it is just for the sanity sake..

Are there any particular issues with your intake plenum that make you ask about that bracket?

Hope this helps and best of luck!

I'm having some misfires P0301&P0305. I don't think they're related to the intake but that's how I found the missing bolt. I was taking off the intake trying to figure out what was going on (coil, plug, vacuum leak etc...). I'm going to put a new plenum gasket in and pick up a m8 stud from Ace hardware before putting it back together. Kinda sucks I have to rip apart the car just to figure out an issue like this. Thanks for your help

IME on a ‘99, that bolt is a MFer to get in and out. Also hard to find once you drop it!

I guess that's why it was never reinstalled.

I'm having this issue right now on my 03 es300. The bracket is missing the 14mm bolt and its so loose I believe I can hear it rattle and clunk when I drive around. Can anyone verify that its M8 thread? I need this issue gone asap
