Default B1801 air bag code?

Have an intermittent airbag light and all of the controls on the steering wheel are dead as far as audio and display mode setting. Cruise control works and the horn works. Plugged in Techstream and it has a B1801 code for the airbag which is a malfunction in the "Drive Side Squib Circuit".

There isn't a lot of information about this code and I didn't find anything here on the forum. Seems like some people have replaced the clock spring assembly and that took care of the problem. I'm leaning towards that as the point of failure due to the controls being dead on the steering wheel also. OEM ones are surprisingly cheap... about $50 or so on eBay. Will probably order one and see what happens but I was just curious if anyone else had encountered this before. The part number covers the ES330, 4Runner, GX470, and the FJ Cruiser.

Ordered part number 84306-60080 from eBay. Looks like legit OEM is about $270, lots of other 'OEM boxed' on eBay and Amazon for $30-50. Maybe a counterfeit, we will see. Will update once it gets here and document the install process to help others in the future.

I mean, it looks OEM but I'm not sure if it is, due to the price. Will throw it on later this week and see what happens. The air bag light has been off for the last few days, but the steering wheel controls still do not function. Hopefully this will fix that.

Make sure the numbers of pins and the shape of the connectors are the same as your current one!

Took awhile to get this installed, but it fixed the air bag light and all of the steering wheel controls work again.

I'm sure the one I got is a counterfeit due to the price, but there really isn't anything to it so we will see how it holds up. If your steering wheel controls don't work or you get a B1801 code, start here.

How is your clock spring holding up? Just had B1801 / B1811 come up on mine. Amayama has them for $130 shipped, but was curious on your feedback.

Failed after a few years. Horn and stereo controls from steering wheel still work but airbag light is back on. Would buy genuine OEM next time.
