Default 2005 ES300 Original SAT NAV

Hi everyone,

I just bought a 2005 ES300 and I am considering changing the SAT NAV with something more modern. I want to know the dimensions to buy one that has the same dimensions because I don't want to change the plastic around it.
Can someone help with the dimensions?
Thanks

I think you will want to go with a double-din standard unit; there are cheap and good quality replacement surrounds that will retain an "OE" look.

Hello,

Every reputable head unit you will find on sale has its exterior dimensions written out in the specs, so what you can do is measure the opening you have already and check if a chosen unit will fit in there. If it is a little narrower, Metra made adapters to cover the excess space (P/N: 95-8202).
You can find more information about installing aftermarket head units here.

P.S. You are really lucky to have a stock navigation - the standard radio is embedded into that plastic, and to install a new head unit, a new trim needs to be bought, which is rare and excruciatingly expensive..

The double din trims aren’t expensive. I got one for my 06 a while back. Forgot what brand I used but it looks really good.

Huh, you've got lucky then, most aftermarket ones that I've seen are completely off with the color. What I meant by my previous post is a Genuine trim piece, which can go as high as $200 on eBay..

There’s zero need to get an OEM dash kit unless you want to pay that much for the little Lexus letters on it. And I’m crazy about using OEM stuff. I’ll take a pic of mine later on.

The stock NAV is an odd size and wider than the standard Double DIN stereo by like 2 centimeters. I think you'd be hard pressed to find something that fits in there perfectly.

It seems the popular Metra dash kits only come in the darker gray color, if your car has the lighter gray interior trim, you'll need to swap out HVAC bezel for it to match. Which may or may not require some modifications to the HVAC bezel depending on your options. I'm faced with this issue on my 2005. I did buy an ES HVAC unit that matches the Metra bezel pretty well, just like what funcrusher posted, but the replacement unit doesn't have the ventilated seat controls and requires some dremeling to swap the HVAC bezels and use my original HVAC controls. A swap of the transparent LCD cover is needed too. Sadly that's not part of the HVAC control unit (and would have made the swap much easier if it was).

Here’s my old thread about the double din dash kits available for 02-06.
