Default Exactly 20 years later with 345k miles .......

Been a while since I posted here..... got busy with other priorities and such.

Exactly 20 years back purchased this ES with 8 miles on odo meter. Now with 345k, still doing good. Last year was the bad year for her. Few things were replaced;

1. Radiator (after 19 years!)
2. Idle control valve
3. Throttle body

That's awesome!

How's the interior holding up?

That's really impressive. This has long been my favorite generation of the ES.

That engine bay is spotlessly clean! Nice job maintaining this beauty!

1MZ is an extremely strong engine they are hard to kill. Even when they get severe sludge they still run, eventually the engine will die but it takes a lot. We take for granted things that routinely happens on other engines, stuff like exhaust manifold cracks, manifold studs pulling out or breaking, broken valves, valve seats lifting out of the heads, burnt valves, bad piston rings, and a bunch of other stuff you'd think shouldn't be an issue.

Beautiful Car! Just wondering what engine oil has been used throughout its life as well as transmission fluid?

No rust underneath? Amazing accomplishment with the mileage. I bought a new Sentra in '93 and I'm still daily-driving it, 340,000 miles. I love high mileage cars!

The 1MZ-FE is unfairly maligned. It is an exceptionally well-made, long-lasting, smooth, powerful and economical motor that is easy to maintain.

Agree, we take many things granted with Lexus cars. What amazes me about this car is not its engine or transmission but the weather strips!. Even the one under the hood is still supple and no cracks. Whereas my LS door weatherstrip already cracked and replaced under warranty.

Up till 60k, Lexus serviced and I believe those days Lexus version of Pennzoil oil.
Later switched to sync blend till 90k.
After 90k, mobile 1 HM oil. If that's not available, I go with syn oil.

Transmission, always with Toyota type IV fluid. Have been rotating drain and fill and flush every 40-50k miles. For the last 100k missed it. Will do shortly.
