3ES Windshield replacement
I was wondering if any of you had your windshield replaced and what glass you recommend. I would like to stay with the original manufacturer so I took a look at the markings and it says:
TOYOTA
LAMISAFE
LP ASAHI
M334 AS1
DOT-20
Doing some research, I found that Asahi is the manufacturer of the glass and Lamisafe is the brand name. Also found out Asahi is now known as AGC (Asahi Glass Company).
Do you guys know if SafeLite could source such glass for me?

It's going to be crazy expensive to get Japanese glass; it's just one of those things that you don't ship across the ocean easily. And domestic manufacturing is OK. getting some pulled is a possibility; I did look into that, but it still will have a decade + of wear on it.
To economize, a few years back I found a guy on CL that did mobile glass work. He is dramatically cheaper than anything else and I've had three windshields from him - I think one on my SUV and two on the 4ES. I was very satisfied with his work and better I think than a shop. I've sent a few other people to him, also very satisfied. I think the best shop/mobile traditional place I found was close to $400, he did it for $215 and I think better. He now has his own "brick and motor" shop in Bremerton, WA and I still go to him though it makes a day trip. My point - don't insist only on Japanese glass and don't feel constrained to the big shops.

Windshield is about $900 from Lexus assuming they can still get it. AFAIK you are correct Asahi Glass is the OE supplier.

If cost is not an issue get Lexus glass!
