Default Trunk switch in 1998 ES300

The trunk internal opening switch in a 1998 ES300 is not working. Any input on where to start my repair investigation would be appreciated.
Thanks
Gary

You sure the bulb is good? If so the wires near the left hand trunk arm tend to break or sometimes short out. The switch I believe is part of the latch assembly although I've never actually looked.

Hello,

I explained how that system works here. There is a button in the glove box that turns the trunk switch off, so that the person you give valet key to will not be able to get your stuff. If light doesn't work, it may be an indication of a bad lock, see if one of the contacts leading to the trunk lock motor switches to +12V, if so, it is probably the lock itself that is the culprit, but if not, see if the switch and relay are working.

Hope this helps and best of luck!

Thanks, the button in the glove pocket was the culprit.
