I have tolerated a rear end, passenger side noise for a while. A clunking sound, especially when going over speed bumps and similar bumps. Searched the forums, replaced the sway bar bushings, but that didn't work. Checked strut mounting bolts, no issue there. I removed the tire and noticed that the wheel studs could rotate against the rotor hub, making a clanking sound. The opposite side didn't do this.
1. Normal or not?
2. If not, what is the best way to fix?

The studs rotate? No that is not normal they are splined and pressed in, but if they rotate how do you tighten the lug nuts? For a hub NSK is decent.

Or Koyo (a bit more expensive but same as OEM)

Sorry for the lousy explanation. The studs aren't spinning. Rather, you can rotate the hub & studs assembly while the rotor remains stationary.I put a quick video on youtube to show this.

That's perfectly normal. The wheel presses against the rotor hat and keeps it from moving.

Thanks for the speedy reply. I didn't notice it on the other wheel. I'm at a loss to identify the clunking sound at low speeds/speed bumps. I'll keep investigating and let you know what I learn.

The rotor tends to rust to the hub so it may or may not be free like in your video. If possible lower the rear tires onto wheel ramps or something to raise the car, get under there are forcefully rock things about can usually find noises this way. I can't stress enough car must be secure, don't use jacks to do this.
