(1998 ES300) replacing radio and climate control headunit with 2001 version.
Hello! I have the infamous "broken lcd display" on the radio head unit of my ES300 and I was wondering if it was at all possible to use a radio head unit from a 2001 model instead. Also, while I was at it I wanted to replace the clime control head unit along with it so that the two matched. Would this be compatible as well?

Hello,
It is possible to use a head unit off of post-facelift ES300, but it will require some modding, since pigtails are incompatible. Here is the guide on how you can retrofit the unit with no irreversible mods.
As for the climate control, it seems like it should work just fine, without mods, since the Climate Control ECUs have identical Part Numbers (marked 55912A on the Parts Diagram), it is the dial pads that are different. At least from reading between lines in the attached post, it seems like the guy was also able to connect a climate control unit along with the radio. That said, I am to a 100% sure on that, take it with a grain of salt, since I was wrong before..
Hope this helps and best of luck!
