Hi all, yesterday my trusty es developed a high idle coming off the freeway, drove fine going 80 but only noticed coming to a stop. Idled at about 12-1500 rpm in drive, more brake pressure needed to slow down. Rpm above 2000 when in park! No CEL, but I know its not right so i plugged in my scanner and pulled a pending code of p0505 idle air control. I was about 40 miles from home so I reset the system and it drove normally for a while, drove like butter on the freeway again ,no problems accelerating and cruising rpms were normal,only noticed it when i was almost home stop and going on the side streets. Leaving it parked till fixed. Should I try cleaning the idle air control valve first? Check for vacuum leaks? Thanks in advance

Seems like a typical case of an issue with IAC valve, try following this post on how to clean it. While in there, check that there is no gap in the butterfly valve. You can also check the resistance between the 2nd and the other two pins, it should be 17 to 24.5 Ohms when cold. If that won't help, try cleaning MAF sensor.

Quick update, just had my buddy come by and clean my iac and that fixed the issue! All is good now
