I have noticed in the past few years that my driver's front axle dampener ( I believe is what its called ) is deteriorating. The dealer doesn't have it in stock and says he can't get it anywhere in North America. He also doesn't have a price on it either.
I would like to know what is the job of this part and how crucial is this part to the safety or reliability of the car. The dealer that I have been taking the car to for the last 13 years hasn't mention a thing about it during their maintenance service throughout the years. Also, I only see this part on the drivers side only. I don't see this part on the passenger side.
BTW.....I have always used the same advisor and same technician during these 13 years. My car is a 2005 ES 330 with 127,000 Miles Car is mint black on tan.
Extra mass to reduce vibration it doesn't need to be there. You should see what's going on under that rusty blob the axle shaft could be compromised. If it breaks it could do serious damage.
