Default Oil Change

I went to a Toyota Dealer to change the oil in my ES for the first time. I was originally quoted $21.95. I decided it was worth the extra few bucks to have it changed at a new Toyota dealer near the house. They had a nice clean waiting room with a window with a view into the service department. Hence, I could watch the mechanic working on my car. Also, I was confident that they would use the proper oil and filter. I was happy to see that they checked the tire pressure and cleaned the engine bay. I was glad that I chose to go to the Toyota dealer at that point. However, the total bill ended up being $26 instead of $21.95. I asked why it was different than the original quote. They stated because "it was Lexus". I didn't argue and left the dealership. Well, now it's bugging me. How is my 94 ES any different than a 94 Camry XLS ? Wouldn't they use the same filter and oil on that car ? I don't think it's right.

Maybe they charged you extra for the tire pressure check and cleaning the engine bay...?? For my '01 ES, I paid $22 for the Toyota oil change, which lasts 5K miles.

I'm going to make sure I have a firm quote from this point forward. I may look into other Toyota dealerships as well. An interesting note may be that the owner of this dealership also owns a Lexus dealership in the area. My other service inquires were denied. I was told to go to a Lexus dealer.

It sounds like this dealership is treating your car with Lexus prices in mind, not Toyota ones. I'd go to another dealership for the next oil change.
