Post New KYB Strut-Plus on 3ES Report

I recently purchased a full set ot KYB Strut-Plus assemblies for my 1998 ES300 using KYB's recommended part numbers (1998 Lexus ES300: SR4035 - Rear Right; SR4036 - Rear Left; SR4031 - Front Right; SR4032 - Front Left). Needless to say, these same assemblies are also specified for various similar Camrys and Avalons; they're not specifically designed for the 3ES.

I was apprehensive about getting these because I've read so many admonishments on ClubLexus and similar forums to only use OEM mounts and/or springs... I was also prepared for more-than-stock lift from the aftermarket springs and a too stiff ride from the KYB struts (again, relative to stock). After much consideration, I concluded that I'll be OK with a firm ride and that I could more easily do it myself with the "quick struts", so I ordered the set from RockAuto (just over $500 with tax & shipping).

I now have a couple hundred miles on them, and I can describe the experience as so far, so good! I'm happy with the improved handling, the ride, and the non-clunking of the old strut mounts. The car's height doesn't look bad - here's a picture in the morning sun on nearly-level ground:

Before diving into the job, I called my local tire & wheel guy to schedule an allignment for the next morning. When I told him what I was up to, he said they weren't busy right then and offered to do the installation and the alignment right now for $220. So, I didn't do it myself after all and this leads me to a question...

I noticed that the shop tightened/torqued all the top nuts before the wheels were replaced and the car was back on the ground. Many of the instructions I've seen for this installation recommend tightening the upper mounting nuts to 59ft-lbs torque after the car is on the ground. Would it be wise to loosen the top nuts a little ways and re-torque them? My concern is the life of the mounts and the likelihood of continued quiet operation.

Not sure it matters, if you're paranoid loosen and tighten them again.
