How to replace or inspect sub on 03 es300
Hi all, I noticed the other day my sub area starts rattling really bad on bassy songs, it seems like it goes away when the volume is high but I don’t know what to do, there’s no videos on how to replace or get to the sub in my mode year. What do you guys think? I hope it’s not blown but I don’t know, it sounds like something is loose back there but I think I need to do more diagnosing.

it Sounds like this when I’m using itclip from YouTube)

Hello,
The cover in those cars is similar to the 3rd-gen ES, it sits on two clips on the front (Red) and two hooks in the back (Green). Use a plastic tool to pry that cover up a bit, then slide it towards yourself, and it should come out. Below is the picture of the cover for the reference. Also, here you can find a guide on how to take the sub out if needed.
Hope this helps and best of luck!

Followed Mbova77’s lead, got some snips and after maybe 20 careful minutes was able to excise the offensive element and snap it back on.
The plastic is very soft. There is a layer of black cloth underneath the outer caramel colored layer (sounds delicious) that my sharp snips did penetrate a few small spots. Recommend snips that are more rounded and dull on tips like Mbova77 pictured.
Yes this was there to protect the actual subwoofer driver. Something to be aware of. Note: no quick movements with sharper objects in cargo area.
Hopefully Lexus will follow through with this and provide a replacement. Super easy snap off/snap on and enjoy. Something like the squealing brake pads that some folks had issue with. But that was only when slowing. The sound system buzzing was constant, with some music.
