Tire question on speed rating
Due to impending long trip (and improper prior planning on my part) I replaced a set of Altimax RT43 215/60R16 V rated tire (149 mph) with the same brand, model and size but with a T rating (118 mph).
Having left those speeds behing with my youth (not sure I ever went 149 mph in anything) have I made a mistake? Or will there be just a slight change in comfort - good or bad - or in cornering (more like a whale) or........
Thoughts?

Higher the speed rating the stiffer and more robust in general the construction of the tire. How much this impacts ride quality is not a simple answer only way to know for sure is compare the same tire with different speed ratings. If it was my car I'd be perfectly happy having a lower rating and better ride quality. A lower speed rated tire will probably use softer rubber and be quieter. I think you made the right choice, how often will you be driving your car past 118mph?
Since you now have the same tire but lower speed rating can you tell the difference? Although you've gone from a worn out tire to new so not so easy.

The T rated will sifice (T-ouring) and actaually last longer and ride better. I personally prefer H rated if your doing 4 and they are between V - and T . With H you get a good speed rating but a good ride and control . IMO Good Luck Drive safe
