Disconnecting the sub on a 2003?
So I'm well aware of the foam surround being shot, I will be removing the sub and repairing this.
For now, I'd love to disconnect it. But it seems like you have to remove the entire rear shelf to get to the speaker.
Is this correct, or does anyone know of a trick to disconnect the sub, without clipping the wires from underneath?? (I suppose I could technically clip them and re-solder but i'd prefer not to.....)

Hello,
Yeah, to take the sub out, the rear seat has to come out, with that, there are a couple of ways to disable it without clipping any wires. I am not sure if it will help, but you can take its cover off as it is described here to see if there is a connector somewhere nearby. The other solution is a little more involved, you can access an amplifier and de-pin the terminals going to the sub, similar to what is shown here, the location of those terminals depends on what system you have.
Hope this helps and best of luck!

Thanks!!
the cover looks simple to pry off. I will try that. I looked at it but wasn’t sure if it was integrated into the shelf or not. I guess not.
i suspect I’ll be able to release the connector once the cover is removed.
I’ll try that and reply back to update the thread.
thanks again.
