Default 4ES Remove arm rest 12V outlet

Hello, I'm looking to replace the outlet in my arm rest with one of those dual USB sockets. However I can't really figure out how to remove the outlet itself. Does anyone have any experience with this? I've tried pulling from both sides and I'm not really sure how it's held in. Thanks!

Hello,

The housing that holds the outlet in has a few clips on each side, here you can find detailed pictures of it, see if you can compress those clips enough to get the outlet up and out of the car. If that won't be possible, please take a few pictures of your outlet so that it would be easier to see how it is attached.

Hope this helps and best of luck!

Thank you! I thought those might be clips but I probably didn't have enough leverage to press them in, I'll take some pliers to them tomorrow

A much easier way to accomplish what you want is a USB adapter that plugs into the power plug. I have one with 2 usb outlets. Works great. I use it to charge my phone and to power my GPS. No disassembly required. It was around $15. You can find them at all the usual places

oh I definitely have a couple of those laying around, I just thought it would be cool to have some flush USB ports even the idea doesn't make the most sense haha
I figure if I can't get the outlet out without destroying it Ill just leave it as is
