Default Rpm at 75mph

I have a 2002 es300 and I feel like my rpm is higher when at 75mph than before, the rpm is around 2300 when at 75. Is that normal?

Hello,

To calculate the RPM you will have at a specific speed is pretty simple. Your car is equipped with U150E transmission, which has a 5th gear ratio of 0.703 and a final drive of 3.478. To calculate what RPM you will have on wheels, you need to divide your engine RPM by the Fifth Gear ratio, and then by your final drive ratio - (2300 / 0.703) / 3.478 940.682 RPM on the wheels. Now to determine speed, you need to know the Circumference of your tire, for a 215/60 r16 it will be about 82.1 inches, you can them multiply by the RPM you got on wheels to know how many inches that wheel will go in a minute - 940.682 * 82.1 77,229.992 inches per minute, which is about 73.135 Miles per Hour.

The tire will never have the same circumference during the ride due to the varying air pressure in it, load on the wheel, wear, etc., hence why the calculations will always be off a little. With that, 2,300 RPM at 75 mph sound quite reasonable.

Hope this helps and best of luck!
