To Buy or not buy from Chicago IL ( Rust Belt state)
Guys,
I found a very low mileage ES from Chicago IL and
the car is perfect but I did notice for some reason there
is a small area of rust by the right door. The salesman obviously
said it is very minor and said touch up is all it is needed. The engine
Bay also had some odd rust by the front of the engine manifold.
I asked the salesman to take pictures of the undercarriage and he halfheartly
shot very blurry pictures. At that point I didn’t even bother to look further.
Manifold is normal no worries there. At least they touched up the pain chip/rust spot. 100% have to see under the car especially things like the rear subframe, brake backing plates, rocker panels. You are in California why bother looking anything from the rust belt?
The only reason why I’m even considering is I like the white and this one
has 22K for an 01. The dealer want 18K which I thought was very high
for a non coach edition. For 18K, I could probably get something substantially
newer with all the new safety techs.

Omg this market is out of control. $18,000?!
Whats your budget and why are you interested in the 3ES? I noticed you posted about the 97 ES300 as well.
Thanks Guys! Yea. I am an Old school dude and I always liked the 3rd Generation ES.
I have been looking for another car for my family and it seems for obvious reasons it is hard to find a clean
low miledage ES 300. I ran across this 01 with 22K in Chicago IL and yea it is very high but looks mint
The very small " Rust " on the fenders concerns me . Other than that area I showed you guys, the car looks perfect.
But I agreed, if this was a $5,000 purchase, that is a different story.
