Default park shift / cruise control / one door lock?

New problem w 2003 ES300, which I still love to drive. Can't shift out of park without pressing bypass. As same time cruise control works for just a few minutes, flashes for a few minutes, then turns off. At same time the driver side power door lock is not functioning correctly.

Are these tied together electronically? Have no other known issues. Have tested primary fuses...all read good..

Hello,

What's the mileage on the car?
Did all those issues appear at once or your already got the car like that?

It is common for a Driver's door lock to fail overtime, since it is the one used most often. My 2000 ES300 has a little over 220,000 miles, and I had to replace my lock actuator about a year ago, since it just wouldn't open the door sometimes.

First of all, check all the fuses in the car, here is a diagram, pay close attention to 10A GAUGE1 and GAUGE2, as well as 15A STOP, 10A ETCS and 10A IG2 fuses. If those are good and your Stop Lights operate as they should, check the 12V and Ground coming to the Shift Lock ECU, if so, then you need a new unit, located on the shifter.

And lastly, the Cruise Control - flashing light means there is a fault code stored in the system. Considering that you don't have a separate unit for it anymore, most of the codes that can disable the Cruise Control will cause a CEL code as well.. Visit any local car parts store, they should be able to rent a scan tool to you for free, see if you will be able to pull up any codes. I am not sure if it still works for newer cars, but on mine, you can also pull up those codes by jumping Pins Te1 and E1 in the Diagnostics connector under the hood and counting the number of times the light would flash, giving you a two-digit code. If none of that will help, you will have to find a mechanic with the brand-specific equipment that can read beyond the standard OBD2 protocol.

Hope this helps and best of luck!
