Default Missing bolts behind plenum

Greetings to all:

I just finished changing spark plugs, rear coils, and coil connectors on my 2003 ES300 with 175K miles. I watched several videos and was dreading the difficult removal of the three bolts which go through support braces into the plastic plenum and the throttle body. I found that the middle and passenger side bolt were missing. Only the easy 12 mm bolt into the throttle body was present. I don't know whether to be upset with the sloppy "mechanic" who didn't replace all the bolts or thank him. In any event I'd like to replace at least the passenger side bolt which is easy to reach. From the videos I watched I believe it has a 14 mm head. Does anyone know the specs on this bolt i.e. thread pitch and length.?

Also, I disconnected the battery before disassembly and everything was fine when I started the car. I shut it off and restarted it and the ABS light is blinking. The check engine light is not on and there are no error codes showing. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello,

What I can tell for sure is that missing bolts in the plenum and the ABS code have little in common. Here it is described how to retrieve ABS codes, not all regular OBD2 scanners are capable of that.

As for the bolts, my position is that if they were there from the factory, they should be present. Part Number for the bolts is 90119-08A06, not sure what size they are since I don't have a 4th-gen ES, but since they are 12mm, it is safe to assume that the thread is M8x1.25.

Hope this helps and best of luck!

Same, or similar, with my '04. There were only 2 brackets holding the back of the assembly. One 12mm to the backside of the throttle body, and a 14mm holding the passenger side so one bracket is missing, thought maybe an inpatient tech shoved it out of the way, but no, its missing.

if you havent already gotten the issue fixed then try this. Remove one of the other nut from the plenum and take it to home depot/ lowes. Those nut costs $2. Since it was a pain to put the nuts in from the top. What i did was i tighten the three top nuts first, then tighten the plenum, then i got underneath the car and tighten the bottom three nuts. I found it faster that way than have to “feel” for the correct position of the top nuts. Hope that helps
