Brake Pad Replacement Advice
2002 ES300
Hi- time for new front brakes and rotors. Thinking about Akebono pads and Brembo rotors
https://www.brembostoreusa.com/produ...lexus-toyota-n
Rockauto has the Advics rotors for $50 which are OEM I think (???)
I can get genuine lexus rotors and pads for $220 from my local dealer.
Akebono and Brembo rotors for $150. (Cheaper if I go with Centric or Durago rotors)
What have others used to replace pads/rotors? Not sure if I want to go aftermarket or OEM- hearing great things about the Akebono...

Centric premium rotors for all three of my Lexus vehicles in addition to using them for numerous other applications. Good stuff.

Hello,
I used Raybestos Element3 rotors and I am quite pleased with them so far, they seem to be high quality, one of the sets is about a year old and it still feels like new, the coating held up very well. Advics is a part of an Aisin Group, all newer Toyota and Lexus vehicles come with their calipers, so it is as close to OEM as you can get, but I never tried those, so I can't say anything about how well they perform.
For the pads, I use OEM only, they are quite sturdy and resilient to wear, and considering the price, they are not even that bad a deal, but that's just my preference. I've heard a lot of good things about Akebono pads, but I am yet to try them since I never felt like there is a need to, maybe I should try them once one of my sets wears out..
Hope this helps and best of luck!

I’ve used Centric Premium rotors and never had them last, they would start shaking after one year or less. My last brake job I tried Brembo Premium UV Coated rotors with Akebono pads and have had no issues yet, it’s been 3 years now. I’ve also installed Advics rotors on an RX450h and they look very nice. I would go with them or Brembo any day. The biggest difference between Centric Premium and Brembo/Advics is the coating. Centric paints the hub surface black and it rusts away and flakes off. Brembo and Centric feels like a powder coat, I think they call it e-coat and it lasts much longer.

Here is a Parts Catalogue for your car, Part Number for the rotors is 43512-48031, and Part Number for the pads is 04465-33270.
Hope this helps and best of luck!
