Guessing it's for the EVAP system.

Hello,

It's a Canister Closed Valve (CCV) for the EVAP system, it allows fresh air to enter the tank to displace the fuel, otherwise you will end up with a ton of vacuum in the tank and the car won't run. The valve should be Normally-Open, and is there for the diagnostics, during startup the system pulls vacuum on the entire system and then shuts all the valves to see how air tight the system is, triggering P0440 and P0442 codes after a certain threshold. Those are among the toughest valves in the car, I have no idea what magnitude of things must happen for it to go out. What is the problem that you are trying to diagnose?

Hope this helps and best of luck!

I cracked the bottom hose nipple to it removing the hose from it. It cracked on an angle but with enough viewable material to bond together. I had to remove the air box for another job. I'm going to glue the nipple back on with JB weld or another epoxy product and be good to go.

Epoxy is actually quite effective at those kinds of repairs, at least in my experience. One thing you can do to make this repair easier is to find a drill bit or something similar that you can use to align the broken piece. With that, people at junkyards usually give out parts like that for free, since it takes much longer to go through the process than it is actually worth, so you may as well get a new one.

Hope this helps and best of luck!
