Hello,
It all heavily depends on the experience you have already, if you are confident with working on cars and have a good set of tools, it won't take more than few hours, but if you are just starting out, it may take a lot longer.
If you haven't bought the alternator already, I would suggest to do a little upgrade and install a 100A unit off of RX300/Highlander, like this one. Factory unit is underpowered for this car, and a 100A one is a plug-and-play option, with no additional mods required..
Hope this helps and best of luck!

Disconnect the negative cable first unless you like sparks and replacing a big fuse.

The Denso you linked are re-manufactured. Would you get that over a new one from the other brands like REMY, TYC etc?

Thanks. It's quite hard to find new parts for these old cars (it has been in the family for 20 years and now it's my dads - I used to drive it like 15 years ago!).

Found out something interesting, the Toyota Windom (JDM version of the Lexus ES) comes with the 100A Alternator, while the export (ES) comes with the 80A Alternator. The Toyota Windom OEM Part is 27060-20090 (which replaced 27060-20080). The Denso Part is 210-0402 https://www.densoproducts.com/denso-...red-alternator. The ES came with the 27060-20070 (which is the 80A Alternator).
I wonder what the reason is for the Japanese market Windom to have 100A while the export market ES has 80A. It maybe to do with the higher equipment level in the Windom of the top grade (3.0G) which comes with GPS navigation/touch screen.
