93 es300 cam gear timing marks
My question is this. Both cam sprockets are stamped with a 4V in one spoke and a 3V in the next spoke to it's right. Both spokes also have a timing notch at the same point in the sprocket. Which mark is the correct mark when setting up to replace a broken timing belt? it's obvious on the left bank sprocket . It's using the mark over the 4V. On the right Bank sprocket both timing marks have been marked with white paint making it impossible to know which mark is the correct mark. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for the info. Problem is unchanged. It's the multiple timing marks toyota so graciously provided and the lack of information concerning these marks that remains a thorn in my side. the guide for the cam pully that is on the left bank, or the front cam is thru the hole that is under the 4V marking in the pully. that guide is also at the 12 oclock position when that cam is lined up on the mark on the engine. however, the cam pulley for the right bank, or the rear cam when mounted to the cam is using the hole that is under the 3V stamp. When positioning that pulley prior to installing the new belt, which mark is the correct mark to line up with the engine? the mark at the 3V or the mark at the 4V? Again, I'm working on a 93 es300 3.0 motor.

Go straight up from the knock pins those are the timing marks you use. They line up to the humps on the backing plate, AND more importantly the marks on the timing belt. What brand timing belt do you have?
Do exactly as shown in the thread I linked to, you can't invent a new way to install the belt.
