Doesn't hurt to try with ECT power. I just do it because my mechanic said it seems to drive okay when that on (if I didn't want to replace the transmission or fix the solenoid issue).
Mine was shifting hard going from 1st to 2nd gear, but I think it just stopped the hard shifting because it only started on 2nd gear now. So horrible acceleration at the start without the ECT Power on.
