As I mentioned in an earlier post I am having trouble with a supposedly working 00-01 climate control unit in my 97 ES. I was also going to purchase the 00-01 woodgrain stereo but now I'm not sure if it will work properly after it's installed. Any help, advice, etc.?

I can't answer your question directly, but I have these documents showing my 2000 ES300 Pioneer HU.

Try to get a rear panel connector pix from the seller & compare them. The usual trick by Lexus to signal a design change is modifying the # of connectors and the pin count on each.

yes it will work.. its a direct replacement.. its the same radio except for the woodgrain

 

sorry wrong answer. all factory toyota lexus radios with amps went from 15 pin plug to 20 pin plug in 2000 and there is no commercially made adapter to go from 15 pin to 20pin. .the adapters at stereo shops are for toyota radios with internal amps which of course is not the case for es300 which have always had external amps. stereo shop adapters are for hooking aftermarket stuff to the speakers and does not help with any oem adaptations like your trying to do.so the 2000 radio fits in the dash and the 12 pin cd changer port controls 97 es300 cd changer but it doesnt plug in. i have a 2000 radio and have made a custom 15 to 20 adapter to plug in the old system but i havnt tried it yet. does someone want to see if it works?

 

I really appreciate the replies and info. They saved me from spending money to find out it wouldn't have worked.
