So this morning my 2003 ES300 cranks but won't start. It's throwing codes 0351 P0352 P0353 P0354 P0355 P0356 as if every single coil suddenly went bad.
So far I've checked what I think are the relevant fuses based on a diagram, and the two ground connections at the passenger side suspension mount, they both appear very clean and solid. That said I don't know if those grounds are connected to the ignition system or if that's somewhere else, does anyone know? I'm suspecting maybe a wiring problem past the point where all the coils come together since the codes are for all coils, does that make sense?
The car had a new thermostat installed two weeks ago which I know requires removal of quite a lot of stuff since it's not located on top of the engine (2GR-FSE). Again, that was two weeks ago but seems worth mentioning.
Other than that I've been noticing that it's been taking slightly longer to start lately, nothing unreasonable but usually it starts immediately and that hasn't been the case as of late.
I'm no expert but would like to do what I can before I have it towed in case it's something minor.
Thank you in advance for any suggestions.
Dan

What year is your car? 2003 does not have the 2GR engine.

Hello,
Please make sure that you do indeed have a 2003 ES300 with 1MZ-FE engine and not 2GR. For now though, one of the things you can do is use a Test Light to check the wiring that goes to the coils, which appears to be universal for both engines. From left to right - Pin 1 is a Constant 12V supply, Pin 2 is a Return signal to confirm that the spark has occurred, Pin 3 is a Signal from the ECU to trigger spark, and Pin 4 is Constant Ground. Check the power across Pins 1 and 4, then use an LED light to check the signal coming from the ECU to the coils, regular incandescent bulb is not nearly fast enough, make sure to reset the codes before doing so.
Hope this helps and best of luck!

Thank you both, yes you're right about the engine model, it's 1MZ-FE, I've been shopping for a newer Toyota that has the 2GR-FSE so I got them confused.
Btw, does it make sense to check the ground for the coils? Do you know where it is?
Thanks.
