Default Oil Cooler Line

2007 ES350- 212k

Looks like my VVTI oil line was replaced at 60k miles according to the service history. Is this the same as the oil cooler line that is replaced on the RX etc?? Should I address this if I take off the cover and see a rubber hose?

My service history from March of 2010 reads:

SERVICE: 9LH REPLACE OIL COOLER HOSE FOR ES 350
DESCRIPTION:~|~9LH RX OIL COOLER HOSE ~|~FOUND OPEN RECALL 9LH ON VEHICLE ~|~60122 PERFORMED SAFETY RECALL 9LH ON VEHICLE, REPLACED VVTI OIL HOSE ON VEHICLE

No, it is this one:

The right one came from the factory, the recall was done using the same line (rubber/metal). Sienna 3.5 from 2011 has the all metal line (left) which fits perfectly and I recommend you replace it with the all-metal one. Also, I would recommend to replace the upper and lower washers.

Thanks- I found these part numbers

All Metal VVT Line from Toyota 15772-31030
Copper washers (rear, one-piece) 90430-16016
Copper washers (front, separate) 90430-16017

Should I also replace the oil cooler line in the front posted in the video?

Also, help me understand. What exactly was replaced during the recall if they just ended up using the same rubber/metal line? I'm confused

June1978- I too was confused at first- After having bought a used '07 es350 recently, I came across these threads talking about this Toyota/Lexus VVTi oil line failure. After much research, I found that my particular car had the hose in question replaced by Lexus years ago, with an updated version, but they still used the rubber middle section! So it was a "band-aid" at the time. Later, they came out with the (proper) fix- All metal! So anyone that got that first "upgrade" was left out of the final proper fix unless you voluntarily insisted or paid out-of-pocket yourself. I have an appt at the local Indy shop to do the job next week- $200...

Yup, same with my car also, the recall was to just replace it with a thicker rubber hose, but at the end of the day... rubber is rubber and very old rubber is not great at carrying hot engine oil.
Get it replaced with metal if you want your car to last at least another 5 years.

The second oil cooler line that is at the timestamp in your video is ONLY on vehicles that are rated for towing (i.e. the RX/Rav 4/etc) because the oil needs extra cooling when you're towing a load. The ES was not made for towing initially and so does NOT have this extra oil cooler line.

Thanks to all of you.

Can someone please provide the correct part number for the cooler line? along with the part numbers for the washers?

What I posted above I think is incorrect...I'm seeing a lot of conflicting info online

You don’t have the oil cooler lines.

As said above the ES only has the VVt line. The ES does not have an oil cooler, thus it does not have an oil cooler line like the RX.
I suspect those VVt part numbers above are correct.

I googled the part number and found it at McGeorge Toyota

https://toyotaparts.mcgeorgetoyota.c...ine-1577231030

Go to one of the online Lexus OEM parts dealers (most are brick and mortar dealers) then enter your VIN as instructed. Then search for the VVT line and it will show the correct part numbers. Or call your local dealer.

This is the correct part number (1577231030), it's the one that I had installed on mine.

Make sure you get all the associated gaskets as well, you'll want to replace those while you're at it.

Make sure to replace it the metal one, gaskets, etc, yes. My mom's 2007 RX, with only 42k miles (she's the original owner) had it blow when she was out an about. Good thing she didn't keep driving and noticed the warning on the dash. Car was towed to Lexus, she was never aware of the recall.
