Serious scrapes on rear bumper
We current have one Lexus in the family. Right now, we're looking at an '07 ES350 with a serious scrape on the rear bumper that goes up slightly into the rear quarter panel. Owner represented it as a small scratch. On the bumper, it's a large (approximately 6x8 inch area) and more like a large patch with a gouged area (unfortunately, I don't have a picture of it). And the scratch on the adjacent quarter panel is about 9 inches long. I'm assuming the bumper would need to be completely repainted or possibly replaced. Any idea on the cost on this? He also told me they have no service records on the car when I inquired. But when I called the local dealer, they had plenty of service records on the vehicle. Sounds a little disingenuous to me. I wonder what he's hiding. He also declined to let my mechanic inspect the car. Also, the brakes are spongy. When you stomp on them they will stop quickly, but the pedal is much farther down to the floor than I'm used to.

I would run away from this deal as fast as I can, there is probably something seriously broken with it (e.g. head gasket leak) that would probably cost you more than what you paid for the car to repair.
Only a good deal if he's giving it away for free, or paying you to get rid of it.

I mean there are many second third fourth hand owners that aren't aware they can get access to the records free using the VIN on the lexus website. But anyways...the fact he's saying no to the inspection from the mechanic means run. It was hard for me to walk away from a $6500 ES ultra luxury because he didn't want to do the inspection but I did it. Found my current one, ultra luxury and got it inspected by a mechanic. The seller had no issue and said "Sure bring whoever you'd like". Mine was much more at ease and got a vehicle with no major issues!
The spongy brake issue maybe a bad brake booster.
How much are they selling it for?
