Default Cargo area / Interior Trunk Light not working

Hello Lexus friends,

I recently bought a 2008 ES350 with 100k miles on the dash and just noticed that its interior cargo area / trunk light isn't working. Bought a new bulb, tried it both ways - no dice.

Does anyone know which fuse is being used by the trunk/cargo area light? According to the manual it should be Fuse #27 from the Engine compartment, but the rest of the interior lights are working OK (with the only exception of the visors / vanity mirror lights, which is apparently a common issue).

Any ideas what else could be causing the light to not work when the trunk is lifted?

Pic below for reference of a working trunk light.

Are you sure it's #27? From my manual that's for the instrument cluster.
I think the fuses for the trunk light is the same as the interior lighting, try fuse #15.

Thank you, I'll check it out.

I'm using the manual found online at https://assets.sia.toyota.com/public...f/OM33809U.pdf

For the engine compartment fuse box, #15 is supposed to be for turn signal lights, while #27 is for the interior lights

Yes, you're right, it is fuse #27.
I would get a multimeter and check to see if there is voltage across the lamp terminals, if not, see if you can trace the wiring, there might be a break there.

You may or may not need to remove the rear seats.
