I agree. The wood panel should stop at the lower door storage like all Lexus's. Cover the upper dash and it gets excessive. Still, good to know that dealers are already offering alternatives to this controversial design. Thanks Shred.

I know it looks stupid and clashing. I wanted the Camry, but it's interior turns me off, too female.
I think the Lexus looks 100 times better, but actually still not perfect.
I wish there were a lot more wood in the car. There's less wood on the doors, none on the passenger side, none around the dash, and on the center console it is only on in some design which only covers half of it down past the shifter. I would have liked that to be all wood. I wish "more wood" were at least an option, especially down past the shifter where I think it looks stupid.
But, I still love the car and will most likely buy it.

Here's a pic of what the rear seats and trunk pass through would look like in the ES350.
The rear seats can RECLINE up to 8 DEGREES.

I would have to agree. Lex looks much more sophisticated.

I would be shocked if they don't recline in the ES.

On another note, remember the nice green looking overlay I said I hated in the Camry?

Well, here's a quote from USA Today:

"And the green tone of the control panel — the plastic itself, not the illumination — seemed ridiculous rather than distinctive."

Sorry, but it's already been officially covered in this thread that the ES350 will NOT have the reclining rear seats that the Avalon AND the Camry have. Again, I'm quite disappointed at the "Ultra Luxury Package", which doesn't seem to include anything substantial for the rear seats besides the panoramic roof and the rear side airbags. IMO if they're gonna use that name for the package, which has already made itself known in the LS430 UL, they should at least include a few rear-seat goodies worthy of the name.

Not having a rear seat recline, even a small one, is a mistake when even the Camry XLE has one...

Well, that's a bit unfair then, since the RAV4 is an SUV and as such the rear seats can naturally recline as with all wagons and hatchbacks.

Reclining rear seats in sedans, on the other hand, are still considered a luxury option even by today's standards (that is, until Camry XLE makes it mainstream).
