seat belt chimes on ES 350
#16
One problem I've had on my ES with the seatbelt chime is when a front seat passenger gets out of the car. Sometimes the airbag ON light will stay on and the seatbelt chime will start to ring even after the passenger has gotten out and closed the door. Has anyone else had this problem?
Reason chime is done these days BTW, is that it is becoming requirement in many countries and many safety tests. In Europe, you can not get 5 star crash test rating without the warning chime.

Thanks to LONGBOY41! We checked the quick reference guide as suggested, and did find this item indicated as a personal preference option. Thank you, thank you. Our dealership would not disconnect the chimes when originally requested, but we went in with your email and the page of the quick reference guide and no problem, done in 10 minutes.
This is a wonderful web site. Thanks to all of you who tried to resolve this issue. This does not mean I will not wear my seat belt, I just don't need the chimes to remind me. Never have, never will.
Thanks again,
Caco (no longer chime crazy)

From this forum I knew I could turn off the buzzer, but just thought I would ask the dealership to turn it off on the 30 day inspection. Service writer thought it was a safety issue, and they probably couldn't do it, but he knew it could be done, and would "see what could be done". When I got it back, they were off ... a refreshing change from prior MB service.

I took my vehicle (2009/ES350) in for the recall last week and now the dealer turned my seat belt chime back on after disconnecting it for me, in the first place, last year after a battle royale. I have tried silencing it w/the method on this forum but it will not work. I do know how to do it correctly bc I have done it on the Lexus SUV. Is it possible that the dealer has done something else to my car to negate this method? Any thoughts or ideas?

That happened to me once when I had my battery replaced or something but I just took it back to the dealer and they quickly disabled the warning through my personalized settings. I believe two of the three settings that I had changed when I purchased the car had to be reset.

I had the same then happen to me. I took my 09 ES 350 in for the pedal shave and asked the service advisor to turn it off. They said it couldn't done because of the safety issue. I showed them the settings check list that said it could be done. They were like 'where did you get that"? They disconnected it.
